Starshaped Press is a design and old-school, legit, letterpress studio in Chicago, specializing in posters, music packaging, business cards and, most importantly, wedding invitations and save the dates!

Starshaped Press is extremely passionate about keeping the true craft of letterpress alive. They print all of their projects using antique, hand set, metal and wood typefaces and ornaments. These guys have got a lot of crazy old gear at their disposal, and most of the types in the studio are at least 50 years old, some are 100 years old — the mind boggles.

Starshaped Press offers a wedding collection that features four different styles and each style can be translated into a few different formats depending on your preference. Or you can contract completely custom works from them, such as these beauties …

"We don't have any set parameters for choosing colors and papers, and in fact we encourage creativity on that front. We've been asked to match many crazy color swatches in the past (crayons? fabrics? coffee stains?), as well as find envelope and ink colors to complement these."

Starshaped Press works with couples to help achieve a look they want without breaking the bank. For example, they'll print the invitation, but create a design for matching programs and sell you the file so can print them yourselves. DIYers will also love them because they don't mind telling you where to get matching paper, etc., if you want to DIY everything but your invites.

Sample packs of their wedding invitations are available via their Etsy site for $6. They include one of each one from their wedding collection and come inside a sheet of killer wood type wrapping paper. And if you decide to work with them, Starshaped Press will credit you back the six bucks!

Due to the nature of their old-timey process, Starshaped Press is only able to accommodate a certain number of invitations each year. So if you've been looking for something more offbeat, vintage or retro, head over to their site and book early to secure some truly amazing invitations!
