Thanks to everyone for the congratulations and well wishes. Joe and I were touched to read all of the beautiful comments you wrote. To those of you who commented about the surgery, I'm recovering well and we're both hoping to avoid having another one for the next few years. For those of you who have or are planning to forgo fanciness in favor of marrying your partner right away, we wish you the absolute best. Sometimes the most important things aren't worth postponing.

What a beautiful way to celebrate the start of your married lives – all the puffery (centrepieces, fancy invites, place cards and all the usual stuff associated with weddings) stripped bare to focus on what marriage is truly about – a promise to spend the rest of your lives together no matter what obstacles life throws in your path.
