Rollerskating wedding
Many thanks to photographer Michelle Hayes for submitting these fabulous photos of Liz & Dave's rollerskating wedding to the Offbeat Bride photo pool!

I'm especially taken with Liz's bubbly uber-ruffled pink Betsy Johnson wedding dress — it makes me think of a cupcake or some other sugary baked good begging for some om-nom-nomming:
I'm not sure how Michelle managed to make the roller rink lighting turn so lush and delicious, but the photos are screaming with color and out of this world...

Love it!! I used to play roller derby and I can tell you I have actually thought about having a wedding on skates

As a derby girl myself, I had the same thoughts. That is, until my partner pointed out that he doesn't skate, nor do many of our friends and that it could potentially turn into team party (or just me showing off on skates) instead of 'our' wedding.

ditto!
I had roller skating hen party madness instead

Wow, this is one of the coolest, most unique weddings I've seen on here. This is what I love about OBB – I pop over from other wedding sites feeling like I'm not good enough; then I get here and there's such a good UNIQUE vibe going on with everything I see… it's so refreshing. Keep projecting the good self-esteem boosting vibes!

My thoughts exactly! This site is the perfect counter-balance to marthastewart.com!

Loved this! Wanted to rent the old rink for a 30th b-day, but they only allowed it after midnight! Props to a couple who obviously had fun.

Verrry cool. I'd kill myself on those skates, but that's awesome!

Lighting stuff: Looks like some Par can fixtures, trackspots, lasers, with ladder truss to hang it all from. This does look like it might be an installed lighting package at the roller rink, but you can get this look at any indoor locale.
If you want an effect like this for your wedding, call around to entertainment rental houses in your area, some offer rental packages for individuals. You can usually use the same company to have some guys go to the venue and set it all up for you.
I work at such a place, and unfortunately could not use the toys as we had planned to have the ceremony in a garden. Hope the tip helps you if you are interested in cool lighting!
