Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Behind the scenes stuff

For those of you who are truly obsessive about the site, you may have noticed that the "Author" button up in the top right of the site recently became "About." This is because honestly? I'm not running this site by myself, and I wanted to recognize the offbeat elves who are making the magic happen…

Hey look! It's Megan!

Hey look! It's Megan!

So, promotions all around! Offbeat intern Megan has been promoted to Managing Editor. She's staging all the bride profiles on the site, managing most of the content, and moderating comments like a mofo. You may also notice that Megan rocks the gamer/geek weddings something fierce.

And the original offbeat intern, Shrie, has been promoted to DIY Editor. She'll be hitting us up once a month with DIY tutorials and how-to content for all you crafty types. (Get in touch with her if you've got a DIY tutorial you want to share with us!)

Meanwhile, I'm not going anywhere. I've still got my tentacles wrapped around every aspect of the site, writing advice, drooling over wedding shoes, answering reader questions, and coordinating with advertisers.

I'm also meta-scheming where Offbeat Bride is going next year — and ooh lawdy, do I gots some plans!

But with Andreas and I expecting our offbeat baby boy in 4 weeks or so (HOLY SHIT!) and trying to run Offbeat Mama and Wedding Season 2010 right around the corner, I wanted to make sure that there's no interruption in the steady stream of offbeat wedding luv. I know how you ladies get all hangry if there's a lag in wedding porn!

So really, not much will be changing on Offbeat Bride … same kinds of posts, same steady stream of gorgeous wedding photoraphy, same offbeat ideals and obsessive dorking out on love and parties and fashion, and same thoughtful attention to doing it all with intent and authenticity. It's just that now my interns are official editors instead of assistants — which is my way of saying, Shiiiiit. I couldn't do it without y'all. Thanks for coming along for the ride, beloved offbeat brides!

Congratulations, ladies! It doesn't always happen that internships turn into bonafide jobs, especially ones that rock so hard as OBB! Keep up the good work!
