In keeping with the season, it's time for our weekly Offbeat Halloween wedding!

The Offbeat Bride: Shel, Coordinator

Her Offbeat Partner: Mike, Fire Arms Instructor

Location & date of wedding: Holiday Inn Select, Trevose, PA — October 31, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We tried to make the day about the two of us, our love, and Halloween all at the same time.

We got married in a hotel, had pumpkin place cards, black and white everything. We had a life size motion activated skeleton bride and groom. We were introduced to the song, "Crazy Bitch." We had a shoe cake cutter and skelton bride and groom cake topper and I wore neon blue high heels.

3385316781_bb6b7b3f98_bWe put our ceremony together with readings that were important to us, had our favorite people in the whole world stand by our sides, and just had an overall amazing time.

Our biggest challenge: Our biggest challenge was keeping it fun and romantic and very "us" without it turning into a big Halloween party where we just happened to get married.

Our solution was to keep some "traditional" items for the actual ceremony. For example, while we had a female judge marry us, black rose petals laid out by our twenty-one-year-old male cousin, wearing a cape and a black and white decor — we still had my dad walk me down the aisle, did a unity candle and kept the skulls outside of the ceremony room.

My favorite moment: The surprise "Thriller" rendition complete with fog, costumes, and my crazy family. And, of course, the karaoke in the bar after the reception.

My advice for other offbeat brides: Be true to yourself and stick to your guns. Yes, some people might not think that outdoor Halloween decorations belong at a wedding, but it's your wedding, have it how YOU want it.

And I found that photos help when trying to explain your "vision" to family members ;)

Enough talk — show me the Halloween wedding porn!:

Wow! that looks like it was such a fun wedding to plan and to attend! I love the umbrella 'thank you' at the end. Just the right amount of spooky elegance and kitch with the decor. love it all!

We are doing a black and white Halloween wedding next year!!! Your pictures are beautiful! We aren't necessarily going to do the spooky aspect (our anniversary is already Halloween and Sean's grandfather's birthday was Halloween, so it's just a big day), but some of your decorations have still given me inspiration. And can I say, you look GORGEOUS in that dress!!! Congratulations to you both!
