sophia helping us arrange the flowers

I'm sure I'm biased because the floral centerpieces at our wedding consisted of flowers from my aunt's garden arranged in a mishmash of old vases and mason jars, but I just love this photo of a niece acting as florist at Sarah Jane & Esther's recent "not-wedding" in Melbourne, Australia.

Also, am I the only one who got choked up at this shot of the brides?
love this girl

Lots more photos over here, and OBT members can pester Esther with more questions over here.

Over the past summer, my fiance and I went to Scotland with my family for my cousin's wedding. We all shacked up in two of the most beautiful little guest houses you've ever imagined. Absolutely perfect – lush, green, glowing, sun bathed sanctuaries. I could go on for pages, but this is about floral arrangements.
It just so happens that an Aunt of mine once worked as at a florists and is famous for her green thumb. The bride and groom asked her to whip up some arrangements with only her wits, a pair of shears, and the land around the guest houses – and she DID! With the help of the family of course. We all split off into different directions with any type of scissors or kitchen knife we could come up with and came back with incredibly satisfying fistfuls of greenery and wildflowers.
Finally on their wedding day the flowers were much more than space-fillers. They had created a symbol of the spontaneous beauty of their surroundings and our family's love for them. They looked pretty darn good too.

OH so adorable… I always love the idea of vintage jars and vases for flowers, and the little girl as a florist makes it even sweeter.

Ah! I'm a sucker for this stuff (maybe it's because I decided to forgo the Whole Foods bouquet at the last minute and instead ask a friend to pick wildflowers for me?). So cute! Thanks for sharing…
