The offbeat bride: Kelly, Business Consultant
Her offbeat partner: Cory, Musician
Location & date of wedding: On the beautiful white beaches of Navarre, Florida down below our beach house, on September 27th, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: Well… we could probably start with the bride wearing black. The lady (myself) wore a 1950's Rockabilly, classic black & red satin & polka dot strapless dress with boned bodice and a hem that hit below the knees AND I purchased it for under $100.00 which was totally awesome!
Our lovely bridesmaids went with a comfortable, yet classic look (barefoot)by wearing black pencil skirts with white tops and with modernized jewelry. The guys (so very cute) wore nice ol' dark jeans and Converse with black tees. ALL of the flower arrangements; flower girl basket, and ring bearer pillow were crafted by myself and all origiNAL!
For our reception, we played some good ol' rockabilly music with a few twists. For party favors there were NO BUBBLES or cute cookie-cutters, but we did have candy cigarettes, Mary Janes, Charms pops and some other good junk food. For dinner we got our hands all messy with a low-country broil and some of the best banana pudding ever (in addition to the Tiramisu/Yellow/Chocolate cake of course). I dont think we scared anyone, but we did surprise them with all of the creativeness and FUN! Who could ever doubt the Cory and Kelly?
Our biggest challenge: I guess overall, it came down to just getting people there to the wedding and reception since it was out of state, BUT it worked out great. We were able to have wedding participants, photographer, officiant and some others stay in the beach house until after the wedding and then others were able to rent condo's and hotel suites to share.
My favorite moment: Okay, so I didn't cry, but seeing everyone watching as I walked down the aisle was amazing. The hubby was staring straight at me, making me crazy-nervous and his two children along each side of our officiant (also his great friend and accompanying musician) were so precious. It was like everyone's jaws just about dropped when they saw me and what I was wearing. OVER THE TOP, GREAT!
My offbeat advice:Browse around, but really think about what the BOTH of you enjoy the most. Of course, most everyone says its the "brides" day, but its HIS day, too. Share some of those things that brought you two together and portray it throughout your wedding and reception. Make it CLASSIC! I found it more fun (than cost efficient) to make the flower arrangements and so forth, but to me, it was bringing some of my creativity to the table. COME ON GIRLS, WE ALL HAVE SOME FORM OF CREATIVITY IN US, just got to find it. MOST OF ALL, HAVE FUN!!!!

I very very nearly bought that dress for my wedding. I've decided ultimately to go with another by the same company. But I love that I finally got to see the dress on a real person, it's even prettier than the photos! She looks happy and they look like they had fun. Hooray.
I love her bridesmaids basic outfit. So many uses afterwards!
