Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Wedding websites for people who aren't into froof
Posted by Ariel · Announcements

Ladies, I have been working on this for months, and I am so excited to announce that I am partnering with Nearlyweds.com to offer wedding websites with exclusive offbeat design templates!

Because really: where else but Offbeat Bride are you going to find wedding websites with rockabilly, goth, peacock, or steampunk themes?

We're totally keeping it in the offbeat family, too: many of the exclusive offbeat templates were designed by Aerin of aeiou design, who's wedding I ogled a few months ago. If there's anyone who truly gets offbeat wedding aesthetics, it's an offbeat bride herself! (PS: Indie designers, here's how you can submit your templates!)

I've also featured Nearlyweds on Offbeat Bride before — of all the bazillions of wedding website services I've tested out, I love love love them the most. I'm a big fan of their web 2.0 features like guest mapping, and I love how if you like your wedding website template, you can get paper invitations that match. They've got online RSVPs, blogging, unlimited photo uploads … all the stuff you'd want, wrapped up in a nice well-designed package. (They're also a Seattle company, and I like my hometown geek-heroes!)

So, enough talk from me … it's time to get started designing your new wedsite! You can sign up for a free trial below. If, after two weeks, you love it as much as I do, you pay $49 … which covers hosting for as long as you want your site up! As a bonus, if you use the promocode offbeatbride, you'll get 10% off.

I hope to be adding new designs regularly, and I'm doing a poll to hear which wedding website templates you'd most love to see:

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

No need to shop around…if you want a wedding site, Nearlyweds.com is it!!

They just rock. We found them featured on Offbeat Bride in Nov 2007. They are super friendly and prompt if you have any questions. We have had so much fun building our wedding site and our family and friends just love it too!

Have fun making yours!

Molly, thanks! And congrats on your and Laurie's big day, it looked lovely.

We Nearlywedders are really excited about this, Ariel's got absolutely gorgeous and complex designs up.

If you love it, let us all know, and if you run into any issues, just drop us at Nearlyweds a line.

Nearlyweds looks really awesome. And the templates are gorgeous — way better than the designs most wedding sites offer. I'm not going to lie though, I'm bummed that the sites aren't free. I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too. :/

Marielle, you're right! I wish they could be free, too. That said, it's partnerships like this one that allow me to continue putting so much of my time into offbeatbride.com and the OBT — both of which are completely free. As someone who makes her living as a writer (and especially as someone who's husband was laid off a few months ago), I have to make sure that my projects earn their keep. This is part of that, with the bonus that I adore Nearlyweds and am stoked to be working with them on this and am totally proud of the result. :)

Is there a location (i.e. OBBT forum) where we can make suggestions? For example, I'd totally sign up for the site if I was able to customize the pages, like I was with my current wedsite. I could check or uncheck which pages I wanted, and there were three "spare" pages which I could call whatever I want. I don't really like "our story" or "our travels", and I'd really like a section for "how we're making the wedding green".
Anyhoo, if there's a section for suggestions, direct me there and I'll repeat this comment in the right place.

Nicole, you can totally customize pages with Nearlyweds! :)

I'm actually heading out of town for a few days, so I won't be around to answer questions/take feedback on OBT … but my pal Porter would love to get your feedback and questions! He can be emailed at porter@nearlyweds.com.

Steampunk. Wedding. Website.

~head asplodes from awesome~

The price isn't too bad – not for design, hosting, and all the stuff that comes with it. I'm very impressed. Hooray for non-foofy wedding site vendors!

OMG seriously??? If we hadn't already put hours and hours of work into designing our own, I'd totally be there. Awesome.

Nicole –

Just to let you and everyone else know, you *can* customize page titles, hide pages, etc.

You can even customize your "role" title, so rather than be Bride and Groom, for example, you can be the Hot Bride and the Lucky Dude (or, the Bride and Bride)…anything you can type!

I am trying to convince the fiance to let me use it! Only problem is…he is a webmaster and wants to do everything himself. Gah!

If we weren't flat broke, we'd sign up. I'd lovelovelove it if there was a handfasting layout.

I'm definitely an anti-frou-frou bride with a groom to match. If we didn't already have a wedsite, we would definitely go with the new service =] Great job!
