We've featured this sexy couple on OBB before, but couldn't get enough of their flamed/boobfested hotness! OBT members can check out George's blog post of the whole shebang!

The offbeat bride: George, Retail Owner

Her offbeat partner: Sebastian, Art Entrepreneur

Location & date of wedding: back courtyard of The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel on August 2nd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: What we wanted most for our wedding was for it to be us. We are fairly relaxed people, but with a very definite sense of our own style; and we wanted that reflected in the event. The most important thing for us was the public affirmation of our commitment to each other, and a party with those we care about most.

We chose to have our ceremony and the party, but to not sign the piece of paper that classifies what the government here sees as a relationship, as we don’t think it’s fair or reasonable. Our relationship is however already recognized as a de facto marriage, and therefore already recognized by law, so we considered what we were doing to be more like getting "weddinged".

Then there was the homemade bride’s outfit, the groom’s sense of style, the red cake, the bridal attendant in latex and the other in corset… You name it!

Our biggest challenge: Our biggest challenge was our parents. They didn’t like many of the decisions that we chose and this was expressed very vocally. At one point all four of them weren’t going to be coming. Who’d have thought so much could hinge on a piece of paper being signed?

There was much careful negotiation via email, phone, and in person explaining to them why we felt our decisions were necessary for us, and that no they didn’t have to fix them nor did they have to agree with them, but we weren’t making decisions specifically to be offensive to them.

These were ideals we held very highly and we refused to just “pay lip service” to our wedding vows. There was also much reiterating from us as to just how important family is to both of us and how much we really did want them there to celebrate with us on this special occasion. They came. And I think they even had an okay time!

My favorite moment: There were so many wonderful moments! The ceremony and vows, which we wrote ourselves and were very us! The cutting of the red wedding cake with Seb’s machete, as has been a tradition for Seb’s birthday cakes for years now. The self-appointed bridal party, who kept us both sane. The photographer who completely captured the feeling of the evening unobtrusively. And of course all our nearest and dearest who were there to share it with us.

My offbeat advice:

  • Keep breathing.
  • Stop once in a while to bask in the atmosphere.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff; no one else notices, why should you?
  • Have back up plans! This, more than anything, completely negates stress!
  • Tell your partner how much they mean to you.
  • Have fun!

Thank you all for your kind comments, and all the support we both found on OBB. :)

It was the perfect day, and everyday since has only gotten better!

(and yes, I think he's a spunk too! But I may be a touch biased ;) )

Teri: Nothing odd about it. We met, we found each other exceedingly attractive, and a while later she accepted my proposal. It doesn't hurt that she's unusually smart, either.
I'll take the compliment, though, assuming you meant "handsome."
