Just a quick note to let you all know that posting will be lighter than usual this week because I'm off on a personal writing retreat at Sacred Groves working on what could become my next book … which has exactly NOTHING to do with weddings. (Sorry!)
My beloved offbeat intern, Miss Shrie, will be posting bride profiles as usual though, so you'll still have plenty of wedding eye candy to feast your greedy little offbeat eyes uponst.
Wish me luck — see y'all next week!

The offbeat bride: Kara, Customer Service Rep - Fashion
Her offbeat partner: Loop Haro
Location & date of wedding: The Marvimon House in Los Angeles, CA - June 29th, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: Since I am from Minnesota and my husband is from northern California, we needed an easy location that could accommodate our families and our hipper-than-hip friends.

The offbeat bride: Kelly, Writer and TESL Teacher
Her offbeat partner: Francis, Web Designer
Location & date of wedding: Stone Mansion in Rome, NY - May 24th, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: Both of our families are super Catholic and we are not, so we decided on a outdoor handfasting. The ceremony was presided over by a Catholic woman who was excommunicated for belonging to a church that ordains women and marries same sex couples.

The offbeat bride: Bri, Pastry Chef-in training and Ex-Weather Forecaster
Her offbeat partner: Ian, Computer Nerd and Library Lover
Location & date of wedding: The Fremont Troll (ceremony) in Seattle, WA and Ian's sister's backyard (reception) in Seattle, WA on September 5th, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: I proposed to Ian in December of 2007, and gave him a fantastic sterling silver engagement ring. We had a family-only ceremony at the Fremont Troll (a giant statue of a troll under a bridge!). Apparently a tour bus came by during the ceremony, but Ian and I were so engrossed in all the lurve that we didn't even notice!

I'm back from my writer's retreat with the first draft of the ultimate Offbeat Bride prequel in hand. It's not any good yet, but maybe some day.
Anyway, I'll be trying to get back up to speed with posting, but things may still be a little slow this week as I dig my way out from under my inbox.

The offbeat bride: Kathleen, Non-Profit Arts Administrator
Her offbeat partner: Gilbert, Web Designer
Location & date of wedding: Casa Maria in San Juan Bautista, CA on October 11th, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: My husband and I have been collaborating as artists for the past five years together. Our relationship was built on putting together DIY events at the non-profit art gallery we both work for (where we met!) and our wedding was no different.

The offbeat bride: Sheri, Curriculum Developer
Her offbeat partner: Theo, Software Test Engineer
Location & date of wedding: Carrigan Farms, Mooresville, NC on November 4th, 2007

Why is it that rockabilly brides always have the most fabulous wedding hair?
I'm totally in love with the 1940s 'do that Laurenn and her fabulous smile are rocking in this shot from Bonnie Berry Photography.
If you want to see the full series from Laurenn and Alex's Las Vegas wedding, head on over to Bonnie's blog. There's a gorgeous red dress, cupcakes, paper lanterns, cute kids and a smiley dog.
(Oh and thanks for the heads up, Kat!)
