Just ordered my copy on Amazon now! I thought "support the woman who supports you" was the best reason! Being in NZ and getting the cheapo shipping rate I can expect it sometime in Feb hahaha. But still - exciting!!!

Recent Bride, thanks for your comment. I really appreciate the level of concern you have for the health of my readers, and wanted to let you know that I've received exactly one email about post-wedding blues. I responded personally to the depressed advice-seeker, who was already seeing a counselor to deal with the issues.

As much as I like to think I'm able to help in little silly ways, I'm just a writer -- absolutely not a therapist or certified in any way to deal with issues as serious as depression.

It seems to me that if many brides are writing to you about post wedding depression, simply referring them to your book is a very cold, profit-driven response.

Whether you like it or not, your 'promotional material' has given birth to a community of brides who feel that you might actually care about these issues. With that comes a certain responsibility to respond to calls for help about particularly serious issues such as depression ... whether it contributes to your profits or not.

I went to Borders to buy it and they didn't carry it! I was so close to the end of my wedding that I just skipped it. But I will buy a copy for future Off-Beat Brides so they don't miss out!

Thanks for the great reminder of how important it is to support the artists we believe in. I know times are financially tough for some of us, but that's exactly WHEN we need to make sure we continue to support the arts and demonstrate their critical value in our personal lives and communities. When all of this economic crisis finally hits rock bottom and businesses are closing down around us, I have to be able to look at myself in the mirror and say that I played even a very minor part in trying to help an artist I believe in to survive. I feel like such a fool for not ordering it sooner - now I'm just waiting for the postman to bring me joy.

I went out and bought the book today, as a direct result of reading that there is a reference to "ass-fucking" in the book!

I'm one of those who didn't read the book - I'm a passive reader (never commented up to now) at the blog and the forum (never posted, but had to sign in to read, obviously). The reason why I'm passive is the same reason why I haven't bought the book. I'm one of those girls who said "I'll never marry" (a scepticism I inherited from my mother who married twice, but for the alien's police (don't understand me wrong, the relationship was real)) since I was 12 and now I ended up (ended up sounds fatalistic, actually I'm really young and very happy about it) with a guy who's perfect and I intend to spend my life with him. Now he'd love to marry me (rather sooner than later) and I started to google for reasons for and against marriage and to find out, if wedding/marriage and me can actually work out. And some day someone posted a link in a fashion community to a blog post and I started to read and have come back regularly since then. I'm still not sure if the concept of marrying and me are compatible, but at least I know now that there's a way to make wedding and me compatible :)
