So you say you don't want to get married in a church, but it's autumn so you're not doing it outside or in your backyard.
Bars aren't really your style and while cave is cool and lofts are swank … you want something different.
Nikki & Avi and have a great suggestion for you: their wedding was held at Norfolk, Virginia's Naro Cinema!
The photos are total eye-candy, from the fabulous paper-flower centerpieces to the OM NOM NOM fruit spread and the minimalist autumnal look of the whole movie house wedding. (Bonus: Nikki rocked her glasses through the thang.)
So, go: Feast your eyes!

I LOVE it! (I actually almost did this for mine but couldn't find anything half as cool as the Nero) The thing I love about this wedding (and this whole site, really) is that it makes me feel like they could be really good friends if we ever met.

This is what we're doing. Poor atheists in January? Large hotels, churches and parks are out. Vintage movie theater it is! It's locally owned, (and owned by friends to boot! Super cheap!) and is connected directly to us and our interests (aspiring film-makers). It's got history (it was a porn theater in the 60s! HELL YES!) and is adorably quaint and quirky.
I really think it's a great option for any OBB.

Here is a similar suggestion for OBBs in Sydney, Australia- the State Theatre can be booked for weddings http://www.statetheatre.com.au I used to work there and would be using it but alas, live elsewhere in the world now!

Oh WOW! I am so excited that one of our pics made it to the blog Ariel! This site really gave me the focus and belief that I could do anything that I wanted with this wedding. I appreciate all of the strong women that you give a voice to every day.
As for Stacy's question you can find a lot of vintage dress shops online, I went to a traditional dress shop with a GREAT alterations department. I got a inexpensive destination wedding dress, upped the hemline, and added some child sized crinoline underneath to get the volume I wanted. The folks I worked with were great, I told them my vision of a Dorothy Dandridge wedding and they helped me pull it off with wonderful bridesmaids dresses to boot.

There are a couple of movie theatres in Toronto that you can use as a wedding venue too. It's such a fun idea!

My friends got married last year in October at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA (historical site for its appearance in the original 1930s Blob http://www.thecolonialtheatre.com/). It was only $500 to rent for the day, had their names on the marquee and its just a classic old style theater so that was a plus. Made me start thinking about doing something similar. The best part was when we all stood outside taking pictures of the wedding party in front of the theater. Had to stop traffic a few times on the busy street so the photographer could stand further back. Plus they had the local bagpipe band playing, it was quite the sight.

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding at the Naro in 2001 — and I believe that it was the first wedding the Naro had. The couple I stood up for were, at the time, the directors for the cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which has been at the Naro for 30 years. It was a great wedding! Very offbeat, too.

I'm getting married in a movie theater too! Amazingly, I got the idea before I found this website, but I am sure glad I did. My Rocky Horror Picture Show cast, Help Me Mommy (NW Indiana, Hobart) performs Rocky in this awesome theater built in 1930. It has two gigantic murals inside (space pegasus and one-boobed ladies that glow under blacklight! haha!). The best part is the owner isn't charging us because we're Rocky folks

There is an old tyme movie theater in El Segundo called the Old Town Music Hall. The owners are Wurlitzer affictionados and there is a full Wurlitzer organ in the space. No idea if they do events but I always found it to be charming. http://www.otmh.org/

One married friend thought my choice of venue "set a bad tone" for my marriage because, SURPRISE, old venues are usually haunted.
Because dead people are never put in churches, right?
I will deal with a hundred ghosts for some original antique masonry.
