Los Angeles wedding photography from Amanda Brooks

IMG_6941 copySome of you may remember this cross-gendered wedding party I featured in March. Well, the wedding was shot by Amanda Brooks in Los Angeles, and it's time you know a little bit more about her and saw more of her insanely stylish wedding photography.

Amanda specializes in retro and theme weddings, and brings a lot of journalist flair to her work.

See, she's spent the last two years as the backstage photographer with Burlesque scenesters Tease-O-Rama, and so clearly she understands on a core level how to beautiful capture curvy, gorgeous women who are going for that classic, mid-century style.

You've just got to see more of these photos…

She says: "I love retro and glamour photography. George Hurrell, Nan Goldin, David LaChapelle and Bunny Yeager are my photographic heros." Check out this shot from a Palm Springs wedding:

Amanda's experience as a fashion photographer also comes through her work.
I mean, helloooo gorgeous!

Amanda notes: "My alter-ego 'Aquanetta' can be channeled to do your bridal retro-glam photo make-over…" And yes, this is her:

But don't go thinking it's all boobs and glamour: Amanda's also the mom of almost-6-year-old flying daughter, so she totally gets family-friendly photography as well.

But the most amazing thing about Amanda? Not only are her rates remarkably reasonable (especially by SoCal standards!), but she's offering a whopping 10% discount to all offbeat brides! So all you retro-fabulous, zaftig brides — get clicking. You need Amanda Brooks!

I loved the first shot with the gorgeous lace overlay dress enough to search through the site to find it (and I don't even like lace!).

First I marveled at the dress, then I marveled at how incredible the wedding party looked, then I marveled at how incredible EVERYONE looked (seriously, what group of people that big is that awesome looking?), THEN I noticed Dita Von Teese (!!!) in one of the pictures.
Sheesh! Can a wedding get sexier?

Holy god, is that Dita in one of those pictures at a wedding?

Her photos are so, so beautiful. Absolutely amazing.

Why can't this woman live in Albuquerque? I'm totally heartbroken that there is a photographer out there of this quality that I could have actually afforded. Thanks Ariel

The news about Prop 8 is so utterly enraging. I think that battle will be raging until the end of time.

Our wedding is the Palm Springs one. I spent alot of time looking for a photographer who had a love of retro but still had modern sensibilities. I found Amanda after looking at countless others. Her work had all the qualities I was looking for and she became my first choice.

We had total confidence and left her to do her thing. She did an awesome job, was fun to share the day with, and really captured us to a "T". Highly recommended!

You should put together a bunch of these different wedding photographers' pictures together and make "Offbeat Bride 2:The Inspirational Coffeetable book"

If you dig under her photos, under wedding II, around pictures 30, I'm the bride in the turquoise dress. Amanda is amazing to work with. She's very professional, but puts you at ease with her charm and wit. You feel completly confortable knowing you will look ever so glamorous. Really an amazing portrait photographer. I totally recommend her, she's the best.
