I know facts escape people at times..but lets try and get this right. There is no "right" for anyone to get married... its neither a right, nor a privilege, and no one should need government approval to do anything regarding marrying or splitting up. Just do it. The paper means nothing. Your committment is to each other, NOT to the government. Instead of adding one more law, how about taking away any laws having to do with life choices?

I know I am posting pretty late with this (I was on my honeymoon when the original post came up!!). During our honeymoon in LA
all of our hosts were gay (Chris’s uncle, all of his friends, neighbors, etc.) and Prop 8 especially hit home when we heard about Chris’ and Peter’s story. They were once married in Oregon, the first gay couple to marry in OR. In their apartment in LA they have framed the front page of their once local paper with a photo of them after they received their marriage license. The marriage certificate is also framed and hung on the same wall…. Along with a letter and a copy of a check. The letter and check were sent to them after voters in OR took back their right to marry and the check was for the expense of their license. They are now waiting to see what happens in CA on election day before they apply to be married again. Please VOTE NO ON PROP 8!!

Thank you!
Growing up in San Francisco taught me many things. Give bagels not change. Go away for Summer. Do not bother with a car. When the bus comes, it comes. There is nothing like the smell of freshly rained on eucalyptus. You can walk anywhere. You can see it all and that love is love is love. Equality is _everything_. No on Prop 8.

My husband is very much into both Canadian and American politics, so when he told me all about Prop 8, I felt literally ill. I can't believe that the government is actually trying to reverse such a monumental decision! *insert expletives about backwoods fundamentalists here*

I live here in California and honestly I don't think it is going to happen. For the past 2 months you can't drive down any main road in here without seeing a mob of protestors with NO ON 8 signs. I have gotten into many many debates with famly members and friends over it. It is just disgusting and there are so many other things that we should be worrying about. If the main concern is the "protection" of marriage then why isn't anyone making a big deal about Brittany Spears Vegas marriages or husbands beating their wives. Oh God i can go on for days...

WTF happened to basic human rights?!? And separation of church and state?!? Take the religion out of the equation and we've got another civil rights battle on our hands.

I'm voting a big, fat NO! Let people marry whomever they choose! Keep your church crap out of my house!

if anyone lives in Arizona, voting NO on prop 102 (AGAIN) would be huge for the state. It's the same as CA's Prop 8.

Already 2 "No on 8" votes from me and FH--we mailed our ballots in early! On a positive note, living in San Francisco, I've seen first hand how this issue has brought everyone, gay and straight, together to defeat this ridiculous proposition. Even the Governator's against it!
