Offbeat Bride t-shirts are back by popular demand — and with a new tagline! A very special thanks to Nicole for coming up with Altar your thinking!

At the suggestion of a clever OBT member, I’m offering the shirts for pre-order so that I can offer TWO colors instead of just one.

So now you can choose between two fabulous colors and sizes for everyone: little girls, big girls, and big boys too! I’m offering pre-orders at a discounted price: $20, which includes shipping. Shirts ordered up until 2/25 will be shipped by 3/7.
Pre-order yours today!

Less posts for the next two weeks

Ariel · February 12th, 2008 · 5:11 AM · 6 comments

Hello, ladies! This is just a quick heads-up to let you know that for the next couple weeks I’ll be posting a less because I’ve got some exciting stuff going on with trying to sell my next book! I’ll be in NYC for a few days starting this Friday, and then on the Today Show (!!!) next Tuesday 2/19 talking about my 52 Nights Unplugged project.

I normally try to post every day Monday-Friday, but for the next couple weeks it may be more like every other day. I’ll be back in full-force the week of 2/25.

Layer Cake Super 8 wedding films — now on the East Coast!

Ariel · February 15th, 2008 · 5:12 AM · 4 comments

1.jpgRemember Layer Cake Films, the awesome Super 8 wedding video company from Los Angeles?

Well, good news for my East Coast brides! Michelle, the adorable cup-cake loving founder of Layer Cake, is moving back East in March. When I asked Michelle why she was moving, she simply said, “I can’t take LA anymore.” As someone who lasted only a year living in LA, I hear ya, girl.

Anyway, Michelle’s relocation means that — while she can travel where-ever you need her — she’s extra available to shoot weddings in:

• Washington DC
• Philadelphia
• Baltimore
• Asheville & Charlotte, North Carolina

6.jpgThere’s still a team of amazing Layer Cake shooters staying in LA, so us Left Coasters can still get in on the action … but if you’re on the East Coast (especially New York!) you’ve got easy, local access to one bad-ass videographer.

Ooh, and remember that Layer Cake Films does a 5% discount for Offbeat Brides. Just mention you saw the ad here, and reap the sweet rewards.

Khris Cochran, author of DIY Bride

There are lots of books for different sorts of nontraditional brides — indiebrides, anti-brides, offbeat brides … and now there’s a book for DIY brides!

I recently had the chance to interview Khris Cochran, author of The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding and editor of diybride.com.

Keep reading for her take on the projects that didn’t make it into the book, how to overcome “DIY-er than thou” competitive issues, and what one project even the most enterprising of DIY brides should probably hire someone else to handle.
