My husband's family is very traditional and they did not understand either. Once they saw it, it all clicked, but my MIL was HORRIFIED about the sugar skulls. Seriously, she nearly passed out when we told her. But, we explained the significance of the holiday in our programs and why it was everything BUT morbid. People loved it.

I haven't read the comments in awhile, but Bianca, I highly recommend Andrea Holton at the MAC Store in Uptown. In all of my years in the industry, she is the one makeup artist who can still do my makeup and reduce me to tears. She's one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She is also a licensed cosmetologist and does hair, as well. Otherwise, Mary at Rocco Altobelli in Roseville is amazing, too. She specializes in cuts and styles, and has won plenty of accolades for her work. She's the first person I call when I need hair advice.

Looks awesome! We actually are also planning a Dia de Los Muertos themed wedding for Nov. 1st. It has been a challenge with us as well, because our families don't quite get it. They think it sounds morbid. But, we both love it and can't wait. I'm sure they'll get it when they see it. Also, I love your dress. Congrats on your marriage!

Your style is impeccable! I loved looking at your photos. I too am getting married at the Mpls Sculpture Garden this summer. You are a makeup artist, which explains your kick-ass makeup. But I am not so skilled myself. Do you have any recommendations for makeup artists in the Twin Cities? How about hairstylists? I want to go for a retro-modern look sort of like yours, so any recommendations would be super appreciated. Thanks, and congrats on tying the knot!

The wedding porn has to stop – how am I supposed to steal *all* of these fantastic ideas??

We've been considering doing photos prior to the ceremony (sun sets early in Nov, and I love the idea of an evening wedding). Couldn't figure out how to do something fun prior to seeing each other….the brick wall photo is simply amazing, I absolutely love it. And I'm stealing your make-up.

everyone else has said it, but i have to say it to: the pictures of you in your dress are total inspiration to me. i LOOOOOVE the vintage look, and want a dress like that (very sweet looking). i also plan to try to make a short birdcage veil to add to the vintage-y look. thanks so much for sharing!
