Nearlyweds! wedding websites and rad guest maps

Aww, who's that adorable little tot wobbling down the aisle with a basket of rose petals? Why, it's Nearlyweds!, offbeatbride.com's sponsor for the month of November! Join me as I get elbow deep in the Wed 2.0 geekery of the Nearlyweds! wedding websites.

Nearlyweds.comOk, let's start with the basics: Nearlyweds! is the wedsite service for those of you want great wedding website designs, total control over your website content, absolutely no ads anywhere, and lots of slick features like interactive maps, blogging with comments, etc. Dude, your guests can add their own wedding porn, even! Let's just call it Wed 2.0 and get the pun out of the way.

Nearlyweds! is fellow Seattle-based wedding biz, and you know how you can tell?

Because it's web-geeky fabulousness, people. We Seattleites love our geekery. I don't know if y'all care as much as I do about gorgeous CSS and impeccable Ajax implementation (can I get a what-what from my fellow dotcom nerds?) — but all you really need to know is that Nearlyweds! photo galleries look hawt (try clicking a picture — oooooh) and the design is clean and easy to use. The site is SLICK, ladies. Like, really slick.

I've got a lot to tell you about Nearlyweds! and all their tools over the next few weeks, but today I'm going to focus on the rad wedding guest maps. So, instead of your standard guestbook "leave us a message and say hi" page, you get this page, which features a map where guests can use a pin to show their location — go try it on my test page!

Also on the guestbook page, your peeps can add their own comments and wedding porn — stuff like naked-baby photos of your fiance, adorable "when you first met" couple pictures, or their own wedding photos after the fact. This makes your guestbook way more interactive and, uh, FUN than your run o' the mill stuff. Go and play with mine. You'll see.

Since its a new company, they're also super responsive to user feedback, and I've already made a couple suggestions that they're working on — like batch photo uploading!

I was PSYCHED to find Nearlyweds and love them in theory, but in reality, I've been very disappointed. I have been unable to edit my page since I started my free trial. I'm also underwhelmed with the customer service I've received since then. I have been in contact with a Justin in customer service but gotten nowhere and he hasn't shown any sense of urgency in fixing my case. I left a phone message but according to their website, email is better. So I'm stuck. I'd love to recommend Nearlyweds, but unfortunately, I'm unable to recommend them as a site. I am considering weddingwire instead.

HAPPY UPDATE! I have just had a 180 experience with Nearlyweds.com after speaking with Porter, the founder of the website. It turns out that my particular "Login" info and editing ability was hidden by the rockabilly graphic I had selected. He fixed it for me quickly and now I'm able to fully explore the site. I haven't decided on which website I'll go with yet, but I'm feeling really good about this one. I would like to wholeheartedly recommend the site to anyone looking for a fun, funky and personalized wedding website option….thank you Nearlyweds for a much improved customer experience!
