Zandra’s cemetery wedding
The offbeat bride: Zandra, Art Director
My offbeat groom: Jordan, Creative Director
Location & date of wedding: Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria, BC May 13th 2006
What made our wedding offbeat: We got married in a cemetery overlooking the ocean — it was beautiful.
Our biggest challenge: Getting an approval for the ceremony by the city, they wanted to make sure we weren’t having a freak show or being disrespectful but it was not a difficult thing to prove. We just walked them through what we were doing. Ultimately they were more amused because no-one had ever made that request before so we were the first.
My favorite moment: We could really feel the love from all our guests and that made the ceremony magical. Also because we were in a big circle we could see everyone we invited so it was much more intimate.
My offbeat advice: It’s your wedding, so do what makes you happy and don’t worry about pleasing everyone because you can’t. And have FUN, hopefully you’re only doing this once.
Enough talk — show me the wedding porn: Photos here, and wedding info over here.
