Yes, Layer Cake is an offbeat advertiser. But this is one of those advertisers where I get all clappy and squealy because I'm so freaking excited about Layer Cake's custom wedding films. See, rather than just doing the standard wedding videography thang, Layer Cake's Michelle (who has seven years of film editing experience working on TV, docs, music videos, etc in Hollywood) uses one of those awesome old Super 8mm cameras to make her wedding films — and the results are the most fabulous shade of awesome with their retro, vintage film feel.

Michelle from Layer CakeLayer Cake clearly loves fun, retro, bad-ass brides. Check out all the tattoos and black and red wedding dresses in her wedding film montage. Of course I'm a little biased towards Stephanie and Ryan's Pacific Northwest wedding, but they're all fabulous. Since Super 8 has no sound, Michelle edits the films together with the couple's favorite music.

Layer Cake is based in Los Angeles but Michelle works throughout California and is looking to shoot in NYC, Seattle, and Portland. As Michelle says, "my camera's are small and I travel cheap." No, Super 8 wedding filming isn't for the shoe-string budget bride, but if you decide documentation is where you want to focus part f your budget, you can't do better than Layer Cake's wedding videography packages. Michelle told me she lives for custom packages and working out special deals, so don't be afraid to get in touch with her to talk over your own ideas.
